As the children leave the house it feels like we grow apart, because everyone does their thing and it's as though we become so busy that we begin to live totally apart.
It's just nice to come together and be together again.


My mom Elna is presently Office Head of the social workers service in Kuls River.
My Dad Ben is the director of communications for the Synod of the West and South Cape for the NG church.

My brother Loen stays in Port Elizabeth where he studying business management.
In the past Leon got confused with the wrong things that hurt people around him and God's heart.
It was important for him to experience a sense of belonging again and to know that we are determined that we are going to tackle this thing together with him.

We can only pray.

And so we all come together and Dad said that we should pack a pack a picnic basket and drive into the mountains and top somewhere and eat something.
And on that note Mom used her own initiative with the little we had and packed a couple slices of white bread for us with some goodies to put on top,
grated cheese, cheddar, that yellow cheese and egg with mayonnaise and pieces of mince meat that she packed inside this little tupperware boxes just to
Keep everything fresh. with coffee and a flask.
And she even thought of packing a wet cloth for afterwards in case our hands got dirty.

The route we took was really beautiful with a breath-taking view and after and hour or so we stopped at a picnic table that looked out over the whole sea.
That is where the four of us sat together and ate our sandwiches.

There was a nice surprise that everyone shared my mother had sneaked in a box of quality chocolates and we each got a chance to choose out favorite one.

Its a nice picnic hey? Yes very nice.

There are so many ugly things in the world that people don't notice the beautiful countryside and it was special for me to be stopped for a moment to experience nature as a family.
People are so use to the modern world where they get pleasures out of eating out or going to the movies.
that they don't notice things around them the little things right before their eyes everything has passed.

And at the end of our outing I asked if we could go visit my friend Waddy. Waddy is in a South African rap group, Max Normal.
And they are very well-known. Him and his mom Danny Jones live in a mall.
And so we just went around to say hello.


Later that afternoon when we got back Dad washed the Jetta and Mom did a bunch of ironing, but it was so nice for me when i saw Mom cutting Leons hair.
It gave me such a warm feeling in my chest.
All these years she has cut Leons hair and she was also set on cutting my hair on cutting it all off.

Tomorrow we will all go our own ways, but we look back on these times as golden time.

We dropped Leon at the bus stop early the next morning because he wanted to be in Port Elizabeth for the new year. Dad bought him a ticket to ride the Trans-Lux and as the bus approached,
we said goodbye and Dad helped him pack his baggage in.

As the three of us drove off Mom said that in the past we had always waited for the bus to drive off.
before we drove off and this time we drove off first.

I could see that this bothered dad and so right there and then he turned around and drove back to the bus stop.
We were just in time because the bus was just pulling out and Leon saw us from up top and waived one last time We sat in the car and watched as the bus got smaller and smaller.
Until it completely disappeared.

For me the word family means love people should never take time spent with their families for granted.

You must overlook their special characteristics because in dark times they are the light in the tunnel.
